On the way to work today - yes I'm going to work on Sunday, Easter Sunday at that - I ended up listening to Harry Shearer's Le Show. His apologies of the week were just fantastic. If you've never heard of him and are interested in current events and politics, specifically conspiracy theories, he's worth a listen at least once. Think of him as the polar opposite to the always level-headed Michael Krazny on KQED . Shearer approaches his topics from a perspective not often seen in mainstream media, that is, from the standpoint of a devout conspiracy buff. Well yes, that is, by definition, not mainstream. At times, his straight-on political punditry makes you lose your guard for when he takes the inevitable left turn into the bizarre. Harry Shearer is the guy your school teachers warned you about; he's like a tempting bitch goddess who sucks you in with her song only to devour you. On the other hand,to his credit many times he devotes much airtime to reading what other's have written or said because he thinks they're ideas are worth repeating. His show can be hit-or-miss, but if nothing else, listening to it can be thoroughly entertaining.
Update 2003.04.22: Harry Shearer was on Fresh Air today plugging his new movie, A Mighty Wind.
