Botanical Gardens
With Zornitza in class today, I finally found the time to go out and take some pictures with my new digital camera. I headed off to one of the obligatory destinations with anyone with a new camera in my fair city: the Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park. It was a gorgeous day out and there were plenty of other shutterbugs touring the grounds. But I had a concrete goal that was to get used to the new kit. I bought my old camera eleven years ago and I have to admit that I didn't think it would be an issue to switch to a new one. But the size difference between my old full-size, 35mm SLR and the new medium size point-and-shoot is greater than I had accounted for. I kept fumbling with the small parts and buttons. What I miss most is my 70mm-200mm lens; the affordance of rotating a big lens is much better than twiddling a knob back-and-forth to change the zoom. I think I can used to it but it will take some time.
